Q: What is your hourly rate?
A: We charge $150/hour. Our shop minimum is $80, so if your tattoo takes less than an hour to do, it will be $80.
Q: How do I make a consultation appointment?
A: We do not make appointments over email. To make an appointment, please call us at 617-250-9903 during our business hours, which are Monday-Saturday from noon-8pm.
Q: What are Walk-ins?
A: Walk-in tattoos are small, simple tattoos that require absolutely NO drawing time and absolutely NO consultation time. This means that if you have a small image, say, for example, a green shamrock or initials, and you have it printed out and you know exactly where it's going, then THAT is a perfect walk-in tattoo! However, if your tattoo requires any time talking to an artist or drawing/consulting, then you must make a consultation appointment beforehand. Please note that ALL cover-ups require a consultation. You can make a consultation by calling us at the shop at 617-250-9903.
Q: Do I need an appointment to get a piercing?
A: You do not need an appointment to get a piercing. You are welcome to come by the shop during the hours that our piercer is available, which are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday-Saturday, noon to 7pm. Feel free to call us first and check ZiD’s availability for a particular day.
Q: Are there age restrictions for piercings and tattoos?
A: We do not pierce ANYONE under 16 years old. If you are under 18 years old and would like to get a piercing, we require the following:
1) Clients must be at least 16 years old
2) A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the release form
3) Both the parent and the client must have a photo ID
4) You MUST present a birth certificate stating both names or legal proof of guardianship. Without ALL of the above, we cannot pierce you.
You must be 18 years old to get tattooed. For all tattoos, you must present a photo ID. We do not, under any circumstances, tattoo anyone under 18.
Q: Are there age restrictions for piercings and tattoos?
A: We do not pierce anyone under 16 years old. Anyone younger than 18 must come with a legal ID and a parent or legal guardian with their state-issued photo ID. We do not tattoo anyone under 18 years old.
Q: Do I need to set up a consultation before making an appointment for a tattoo?
A: Yes. If your tattoo is not a walk-in, you must call and set up a consultation with an artist first. During the consultation, you will discuss with the artist your tattoo ideas, designs, and goals. During your consultation, you and your artist will also schedule your appointment.
Q: What should I bring with me to my consultation?
A: Sketches, drawings, print-outs, and references are greatly appreciated by your artist. This helps give him or her a better and clearer idea of what you want and how you want it to look on your body. If you don’t have any references, just coming in with a clear idea of what you want helps! Along with sketches, ideas, and drawings, you’ll also want to bring $50 with you so you can make a deposit. The $50 will go to the total cost of your tattoo and will secure your appointment. The $50 deposit is non-refundable, and if you miss your appointment, you will lose the $50!
Q: I can’t find the font that I want online. What should I do?
A: We have a font database on our computer that we can check out when you come in!
Q: Should I tip my tattoo artist?
A: If you are satisfied with your tattoo and your experience, a tip is always greatly appreciated!
Q: I want to pierce ____________ and ______________. Is it possible?
A: ZiD can do any piercing. No piercing is too complicated or strange for him! Check out ZiD’s portfolio on our Piercings page to see examples of his work.
Q: My piercing/tattoo feels strange, looks weird. What should I do?
A: Call us! Don’t try to self-medicate…always call the shop first and ask us. No question is a stupid one!
